Milton Keynes Community Energy: Join our Board
Join Us: Directors and Volunteers needed
Are you concerned about climate change?
Do you believe in the power of communities coming together?
Might you have some time to help us take action to make a difference?
Are you interested in sitting on our Board and helping us steer our course? Or volunteering for other roles?
Background
Community energy in MK began as Wolverton Community Energy in April 2015, which is a not-for-profit community benefit society. We put community and social benefit at the heart of everything we do.
Our defined community stretches across the whole of the area within the Milton Keynes City boundaries. Our programmes are ambitious, and we increasingly work with residents and organisations across MK. As a result, we are in the process of adopting Milton Keynes Community Energy as our main trading name, and we will be launching the new branding over the next few months.
We own and manage 350 kWp of solar PV, across 16 arrays. These provide our base revenues and a steady, long term foundation for our organisation. Our most recent installation is on the Stony Stratford Town Council and Library building. Our most recent project is Home Energy MK (homenergymk.org), an MK Council funded campaign to help homeowners upgrade to cut heat loss and their energy bills, and consequently carbon emissions.
We are now looking for new Directors to join our friendly team and help us steer our progress.
Director Remit
The Director role is a voluntary role. Ideally we are looking for someone who lives, or works, in MK.
We are not looking for specific expertise, although some kind of energy, retrofit and/or business background may be helpful. A concern to address climate change through positive action is a must. The time commitment varies through the year, but is rarely more than a few hours a month.
If you would like to talk to one of our existing Directors to understand the role in more detail please contact [email protected].
