MKCE launch

From 1st to 14th July, the nation celebrates Community Energy Fortnight (CEF), an inspiring movement that showcases the power of community-driven energy solutions. This annual event brings together thousands of people to shine a light on the incredible work happening at the grassroots level and to inspire others to join the cause. What better time to announce the official launch of Milton Keynes Community Energy (MKCE)?

Milton Keynes Community Energy Launches Today

Building on the success of Wolverton Community Energy (WCE), which has been operating since 2015, the launch of MKCE represents a significant expansion to encompass the entire city of Milton Keynes. WCE has already generated nearly 2 million kWh’s of community solar energy, reducing carbon emissions by an impressive 760 tonnes. MKCE aims to build on this success, delivering more community projects and offering great energy prices for partner organisations across the city.

Empowering MK Citizens

As a not-for-profit cooperative, MKCE is committed to empowering our city to embrace sustainable energy solutions through community-owned renewable generation and Home Energy MK retrofit programs. These initiatives help cut energy bills and reduce carbon emissions.

MKCE collaborates with individuals, schools, businesses, and voluntary organisations to explore renewable energy opportunities and use resources to support local communities. By reinvesting profits into the Milton Keynes community, MKCE aims to empower local residents to achieve cost savings and help the city reach its net zero target by 2030.
