Making the most of our natural resources in Milton Keynes would mean putting solar on every suitable roof. It might mean being part of a shared heat network, where water (and your home) is heated by the earth beneath our streets. It would mean taking advantage of our windy hilltops and feeding energy from wind turbines across our City, or using spare, suitable, land for small solar farms. Our ambition is to be a significant part of the MK plan in the transition to clean energy.

Owning and managing our renewable resources through Milton Keynes Community Energy will help us find new funds to pay for the community-owned schemes. Profits made would be reinvested for new projects and to help in the race to net zero. Our community would then benefit from lower energy prices and cleaner air. Surplus could also contribute to our Home Energy MK and other retrofit programmes, helping residents and businesses reduce their energy use and bills. 

Any profits would be reinvested within the City boundaries, not leak elsewhere.
