It’s been a good week for Milton Keynes. The city has made the final four for UK City of Culture 2029, under a bid theme that sums up MK well: we’re just getting started!
Closer to home for local organisations, Milton Keynes City Council has also confirmed that all five projects funded through its Green Business Fund (GBF) are now live, and businesses can access free support from each one today.
We shared the news of our MK Community Energy new GBF partnership in a blog post earlier this month. With the full programme now open, here’s how all the partners fit together for Milton Keynes businesses to take advantage of:

Beat the next bill rise: fully funded solar for MK organisations
For many organisations, electricity is one of the biggest lines in both the energy budget and the carbon footprint. A solar roof tackles both at once.
The OFGEM energy cap only protects households. Business contracts have no cap, so wholesale swings land on your budget at renewal, and often with little warning.
What makes community solar different
A predictable energy budget. You buy the solar electricity you use at a lower price than your current tariff, and annual price rises are capped. That gives your finance team a number it can plan around.
No capital, no risk, for the full term. We fund, install, own, insure and maintain the system for its whole life. Your capital stays free for your core business, and you never have to deal with a repair bill.
Profits stay in Milton Keynes. MKCE is a not-for-profit organisation. We keep profits local by helping Milton Keynes households to cut their bills and tackle fuel poverty through our Home Energy MK programme. Working with us gives you a credible, local sustainability story for ESG reports, tender responses, staff and customers, and it’s backed by evidence rather than offsets.
A local partner for the long term. Our agreements are typically long lasting and we are accountable to the community we serve.
Our community-owned systems have generated more than 3,000,000 kWh and saved 975 tonnes of CO₂ to date, for hosts including Camphill Communities MK and The Radcliffe School.
Is your site a good fit?
Community solar works best for organisations that:
- use plenty of electricity during the day
- have a large, suitable roof or site
- are open to a long-term energy partnership
Book your free, no-obligation viability check
Tell us about your site and we’ll assess whether it’s suitable. If it is, you’ll receive a tailored proposal showing what you’d pay and what you’d save, with no commitment.
Surveys done this winter mean your system can be planned and installed in time for spring/summer 2027, ahead of the long, bright days when solar generates most.
